Today marks the 50th Anniversary of the first Earth Day, making this the 51st Earth Day. It was first celebrated in 1970 and is now celebrated by more than 193 countries around the world. Typically groups gather to participate in events for the holiday. This year, everything is just a little different but we still want to find ways to focus on celebrating the environment.
Our Earth Day tradition is typically celebrated by gathering on a weekend with our staff, agents and clients. This year we were planning to hold a paint recycling event. In the current climate, we’ve made the decision to move that event to a later date so that we can enjoy the event as a team. Keep your eyes out for more information about our event with Green Sheen.
Though we’ve had to move our event, we still want to honor our planet. There are so many ways you can do that in your home and your neighborhood. From simply enjoying time outside to working in your garden, here are a few things you could do today:
- Pick up trash in your neighborhood or favorite park
- Plant a tree
- Make a donation to your favorite Green organization
- Start composting
- Start collecting rainwater for plants, and/or gray water.
- Start recycling
- Teach your children about conservation
- Make an Earth Day Pledge: https://www.earthday.org/earth-day-2020/
We’d love to see how you are spending Earth Day. Please send your photos to firstname.lastname@example.org so that we can share all the different ways you are celebrating Earth Day!
